Using Acupressure to Alleviate Chronic Headache Pain

Acupressure has been around for centuries. Many people today still use acupressure methods to ease pain and to enhance health and well being. Acupressure can be traced back to the Chinese health practitioner Qigong and his teachings in traditional Chinese medicine. The basic concept of acupressure is to locate where stress is put on pressure points and to disperse that vitality in a specific area of the body. To put it differently, acupressure is an ancient art of using physical pressure to certain points along the meridian to alleviate pain or to assist with the recovery procedure.

Acupressure was known by other titles during the centuries. From the Chinese tradition, acupuncture has been known as chi gong (traditional Chinese medicine), Li Shu (Chinese herbal medicine), or Ma Fan (traditional Chinese medicine). Today, acupressure has become called acupuncture. However, although many Westerners have come to respect acupuncture, there are a number of significant differences between both. Acupressure needles aren't used during acupuncture treatments.

Acupressure Points meridian systems located all over the body are related, though they do not necessarily follow a direct path. Acupressure needles are put at particular meridian points along meridians and this"meridian" method is supposed to correspond to a certain organ or portion of their body.
